Seasonal Community Gatherings & Hands-on Learning at The Farm
Workshops
Workshops at Flying Moon Farm offer a safe space for unique, structured learning experiences focused on creating something tangible - working with plants, soil, or fleece and responding to the rhythms of the season.
They are hands-on and no experience is required. We learn from and with the land and the many beings who shape this small ecology, discovering knowledge that grows through attention, curiosity, and care.
And because the land is always changing, no two workshops are ever quite the same. A little curiosity, and a sense of play are always welcome.
Gatherings
Gatherings at Flying Moon Farm provide a safe third space to connect and recharge. Our seasonal gatherings invite people to explore community with humans and more-than-humans alike.
Held beside the pasture where the herd grazes, each gathering has a theme but remains intentionally unstructured.
There are many ways to participate — quiet presence, engaging conversation, or sitting with the trees watching the horses, sheep and cows. Come savour the moment and safely explore what connection means to you.
2026 Workshops
From Fleece to Felted Soap: A Regenerative Fibre Workshop
Spend a joy-filled afternoon at Flying Moon Farm in the Ottawa Valley, where sheep, soil, and seriously good fibre come together.
In this 2.5-hour hands-on workshop, you’ll meet our small flock and learn how sheep contribute to regenerative farming — building soil health, cycling nutrients, and strengthening the ecosystem of our forest farm. You’ll experience each stage of working with wool: from raw fleece, to cleaned fibre, to hand-carded roving ready to felt. You’ll feel the texture change in your hands as wool transforms — becoming aligned, softened, and ready for craft.
Finally, you’ll learn wet felting techniques to wrap beautifully carded wool around a handcrafted bar of soap (sourced from a local maker). The result is a wool-wrapped soap that gently exfoliates, lasts longer, and is fully biodegradable. As we work, we’ll weave in conversations about ethical fibre, regenerative local food systems, and craft as care. Sheep as teachers. Wool as soft rebellion. Slowness as a practice.
Perfect for:
Fibre lovers and curious beginners
Those interested in regenerative farming and ethical textiles
Anyone craving a creative afternoon on a women-run forest farm
All materials provided. No experience necessary. Bring your hands and curiosity.
Felted Fungi: A Forest Fibre Workshop
Spend a dreamy afternoon turning wool into tiny woodland worlds.
In this beginner-friendly needle felting workshop, you’ll sculpt wool from our flock and local suppliers into your own custom mushroom scene — mossy forest floors, garden-inspired toadstools, or something entirely your own. Whether your fungi lean earthy and realistic or bold and imaginative, this is a space to play with form, colour, and texture.
We’ll begin by meeting the sheep behind the wool and sharing how their grazing supports the regenerative rhythms of our forest farm and local food systems. Then we’ll settle in together and learn the foundations of needle felting — how to shape, layer, compress, and build dimension with fibre. No experience necessary. Just curiosity and a willingness to stab wool repeatedly in a surprisingly therapeutic way.
As we craft, we’ll draw inspiration from the gardens, soil, and wild edges of the farm — and reflect on fungi as quiet architects of forest ecosystems. Expect cozy forest energy, thoughtful conversation, a little laughter, and a finished mushroom scene that feels like a small tribute to land, wool, and imagination.
Perfect for:
Beginners curious about needle felting
Nature lovers and forest wanderers
Anyone craving a slow, creative afternoon on a women-run forest farm
All materials provided. No experience necessary. Bring your hands and curiosity.

The Wild Queer Table: Forest Dinners at Flying Moon Farm
Food, forest, herd and queer joy - come share the table.
Step into an evening where food, forest, and the herd meet. The Wild Queer Table is our reimagining of the communal dinner - simple, seasonal, and rooted in connection and queer joy.
This experience is designed for women, non-binary, and gender-expansive folks to gather in a safe, playful space where curiosity, conversation, and community take centre stage.
Gather on picnic blankets or benches surrounded by pasture, forest, and the gentle presence of our horses, donkey, and sheep. Together we’ll share thoughtfully prepared, locally inspired dishes, including tangy pickles, rich cheeses, seasonal vegetables, and our beloved Flying Moon focaccia. This evening is meant for tasting, sharing, and lingering over. No fuss. No pretension. Just good food and meaningful conversation.
Evenings are guided by the spirit of the herd and the rhythms of the forest, creating a living, evolving celebration of food, care, and connection. Each dinner shifts with the season, the farm, and who shows up.

Harvest & Hearth: Autumn Farm Experience
Step into the rhythms of the season on our forest farm in the Ottawa Valley.
Harvest & Hearth is an afternoon experience designed to honor the bounty of summer, the vibrant colours of fall, and the gentle turn toward winter.
Together, we’ll bring in the fall harvest, close up garden beds, and engage in other hands-on seasonal tasks unique to this time of year. Like all our farm experiences, this is guided participation - giving you the chance to get in the dirt, learn the rhythms of farm life in the fall, and connect to the turning-inward cycle of land, soil, and plants.
After our work together, we’ll gather with hot herbal teas and honey-inspired snacks to celebrate the bees and the bounty we’ve shared. The experience is grounded, sensory, and seasonal. A chance to slow down, participate in real farm rituals, and savour both the work and the harvest.
Perfect for:
City dwellers and farm-curious folks
Anyone wanting a hands-on, seasonal immersion
People who love forest, garden, and farm life
Those seeking connection to land, food systems, and the rhythms of the seasons
Bring your boots, curiosity, and appetite for both dirt and delight. Leave grounded, nourished, and in tune with the harvest.
